For decades, we have been deeply committed to the health of individuals and families in Delaware County.
Our roots are deep: inherited from the sale of the Crozer-Keystone Health System, the foundation’s public health programs have addressed critical needs in Delaware County for nearly 30 years. At The Foundation for Delaware County, we are focused on supporting healthy families—beginning at birth. Our programs are designed to improve birth outcomes, maternal and child health, and overall well-being for the families we serve ensuring that families have access to the services they need to be physically and mentally healthy.
The foundation also works to address public health through grantmaking and other initiatives such as providing critical assistance to the county as it launched its first public health department. Delaware County relied on the foundation to provide strategic assistance with funding, planning, education and communications. This is just one example of how a community foundation can play a critical role in public/private partnerships – with your support.
Our programs are designed to improve outcomes for mothers and their babies, throughout pregnancy and into early childhood. Through home visiting and food access programs, we support the health of women, families, and young children.
The foundation also manages a number of public health initiatives designed to supplement our community programs, addressing the complex needs of our families. While some projects focus on physical and mental health, others are designed to provide support in areas interconnected with health, such as legal assistance, housing support, and other resources.
Last year, priorities for our competitive grantmaking process included children’s health and well-being, community and economic development, food security, and hospice and homecare.
Grants are awarded from donor-advised funds, designated funds, scholarships, field of interest funds and more.
