Center for Nonprofit Excellence

In 2019, the foundation commissioned a study of the training needs of our county’s nonprofit organizations. Findings clearly indicated that nonprofit leaders, managers, and staff in Delaware County have a deep interest in building workforce capacity, management training, business development, and peer support. As a result, we established the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNEx) to form productive partnerships and support the leadership needs and growth of Delaware County nonprofits. The following programs and activities are available through the Center.

Programs and Activities

Board Development Learn More

The Foundation has partnered with The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business to offer training to nonprofits, board leadership, and individuals who are interested in serving on Delaware County nonprofit boards.

Racial Equity Community of Practice Learn More

The Foundation has partnered with The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business to offer training in a Racial Equity Community of Practice. In these in-depth workshops, organizational board members, leadership, and staff will work through inclusion efforts related to their organizational challenges and be led through structured workgroup processes where they collectively examine diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in their respective organizations.

Peer Learning Circles Learn More

Tentatively scheduled to resume in Spring 2023, the goal of the peer learning circles is to respond to the need of Delaware County nonprofit leaders and to enhance collaboration and innovation across the social sector. The circles provide nonprofit leaders in Delaware County with an open space for reflective learning, problem-solving, peer support, and individual growth, with guidance from seasoned consultants and speakers.

Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management Learn More

Partnering with The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University’s School of Business, the Certificate in Nonprofit Management will provide students with a diverse and well-balanced knowledge of nonprofit administration and operations. The broad-based curriculum looks at the entire nonprofit ecosystem, including board development, communications, financial management, fundraising, human resources and supervision, program evaluation, and strategic planning, preparing the leaders of our region’s nonprofit sector to be strategic, efficient, and effective.

Development Professionals Convening

Foundation staff plan to offer training and networking opportunities for development professionals, partnering with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Contact Monika Collins for more information and stay tuned for future events.
