Doulas work with birthing individuals in pregnancy, during labor and delivery, and immediately after birth providing education, emotional support, and physical care. Entire families are offered information about advocacy, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum adjustment for moms, dads, partners, and babies.

Birth doulas help promote a safe environment for parents by working with medical professionals and caregivers at the hospital, to ensure the birthing parent is supported, engaged and listened to. Working collaboratively with Healthy Start case managers, doulas connect families to additional resources available in Delaware County and provide follow-up supportive care after the birth.
