We are delighted to announce an exciting new Fund. A cherished educational opportunity: the Robinson Scholarship of the Bethel AME Church of Ardmore.
Established in 1966, the Robinson Scholarship has been instrumental in nurturing the dreams of young scholars from Bethel AME Church. To utilize the comprehensive scholarship fund services offered by the Foundation, church leadership decided to transition the scholarship to the Foundation. The transfer allows Bethel AME Church leadership to focus more on their spiritual mission, confident in the continued legacy of the Robinson Scholarship.
The Foundation has been working in close partnership with the church to ensure that the values and vision of the Robinson Scholarship remain intact. In line with its roots, the Robinson Scholarship will continue to be awarded to active members of the Bethel AME Church who are furthering their education at either a 2-year or 4-year college.
As part of the scholarship fund management, the Foundation handles all the administrative responsibilities, including contacting recipients and their respective educational institutions and ensuring the disbursement of the scholarship funds.
Bethel AME Church of Ardmore, founded in 1895, is a part of the West Main Line District, First Episcopal District, of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Foundation for Delaware County is both humbled and excited to play a role in the continued noble legacy of the church and the generosity of the Robinson family. We are fully committed to ensuring the Robinson Scholarship maintains its unique character and support for deserving students in their quest for higher education.
“This partnership stands as a testament to the power of community organizations working together to enrich lives and uplift communities. We are excited to work with the Bethel AME Church of Ardmore and the community it serves, helping to ensure that the Robinson Scholarship continues its legacy of promoting educational growth and achievement. As we welcome this new scholarship under our Foundation, we remain dedicated to fostering the development of Delaware County’s bright and promising future leaders,” said Foundation President, Frances M. Sheehan
