Sow Good Now

Sow Good Now is Sowing Seeds of Philanthropy Through Youth Sports

The Foundation for Delaware County is excited to announce a new youth philanthropy fund: Sow Good Now Youth

In July 2018, three area mothers founded Sow Good Now, a faith-based 501c3 public charity located in Thornton, PA. The mothers, former college athletes and mothers of athletes, recognized the disparities in youth sports and created Sow Good Now, a youth sports philanthropic organization designed to teach players to recognize their own personal gifts and use them for the common good.

The vision of Sow Good Now is to raise the next generation of philanthropic athletes. Through their innovative GiveBack model, they have engaged a growing number of community partners and more than 2500 youth to serve their communities through the sports they love. These sports include baseball, football, basketball, hockey, rugby, tennis, lacrosse, swimming, volleyball, softball, and more are being added each year.

Story of Philanthropic Athletes Advancing to the Next Level

In 2022, Bella volunteered for a Sow Good Now Swim GiveBack as a seventh grader and member of the Malvern Swim Association team. Along with her coaches and team as volunteers, Bella did a great job mentoring youth from Chester on the fundamentals of water safety, wearing goggles correctly, treading water and the basics of swim strokes to prepare them for their summer camp.

When the Swim GiveBack event was approaching for 2023, Bella quickly volunteered again but asked if she could help more. Gaining the support of her peers, Bella created a video advocating for the event, and raised more than $800 to buy swimsuits, goggles, and towels for the youth. She packed the swim items in backpacks and had them ready when the youth arrived at the pool. Bella spoke about her experiences in front of 200 people at the Sow Good Now Golf Outing a month later. Because of Bella’s additional fundraising, this year Sow Good Now was able to offer swim safety books to all participants as well.
