Preventing Substance Abuse Among Chester-Area Residents
The Chester Drug Free Communities (CDFC) program has been collaborating with partners in Chester, Chester Township and Upland to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth and young adults for over ten years. CDFC is now focused on youth alcohol use prevention in the Chester-Upland School District area by reducing local factors that increase the risk of substance use and abuse, as well as, promoting the factors that will minimize the risk. The program addresses issues that will alter youth perceptions and norms about alcohol use, increase parental awareness of youth perceptions and access to resources, and impact city policy on alcohol use related issues.
