We are committed to supporting food security programs designed to connect families with the food they need for long, healthy lives.
In Delaware County, thousands of individuals and families are at risk for food insecurity. At The Foundation for Delaware County, we know hunger and food insecurity has a negative and lasting impact on children and families. That’s why we’ve established the Fund for Food Security to support food banks and emergency food providers, and to strengthen the emergency food response system in Delaware County.
Share Food Program—the leading food hunger-relief provider in Delaware County—is now collecting food donations to help feed families in the region.
Items most in need for the food drive include shelf-stable and canned goods, cooking oils and spices, food for special diets, coffee, tea, water, and non-food products like hygiene care items, paper products, diapers, PPE, and pet food.

Spurred by the economic downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation’s Fund for Food Security was established in 2021 to boost access to healthy food. More specifically, the fund supports the SHARE Food Program’s launch of a centralized food bank in Folsom, efforts to strengthen the county’s emergency food response system, and Delaware County’s emergency food providers.
The foundation’s 2023 Impact Grants distributed more than $287K in funding for organizations that are strengthening the emergency food safety net in Delaware County.
The foundation’s Delaware County Women, Infants and Children’s Program (WIC) provides valuable nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, nutritious foods and referrals to thousands of women, families and young children each year at three sites in Eddystone, Springfield and Upper Darby.
