Cradles to Crayons will be hosting special clothing collections on Martin Luther King at the following sites in Delaware County from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mount Hope UMC to collect donations

People are urged to clean out their closets and pantry and then pull under the carport and drop off items, such as
nonperishable foods, clothing, household goods, sporting equipment and more.

Prospect Park Drive-Thru Donation Drop-off

Prospect Park Youth Club and the Prospect Park Fire Company are co-sponsoring a Drive Thru Contactless Donation Drive. Suggested nonperishable food items for donation are crackers, 100% juice, canned fruit, canned meat, cereal, breakfast bars/healthy snacks and more. Household and infant products requested include baby formula, diapers/wipes, baby items, household cleaners, personal/feminine products and pet food/items. Donations will benefit the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Delco Helping Hands Pantry and the Delaware County Community College food pantry for students.

Trinity Church Swarthmore Breakfast Bags Drop-off
Delaware County residents are invited to assemble breakfast bags at home, each with a handmade note card, and drop them off at Trinity Church. Outdoor drop-off stations will be located in the church’s circular drive along College Avenue. The breakfast bags consist of items like breakfast bars, single-serve cereal boxes or oatmeal pouches, juice, applesauce or fruit cup, tea bag or hot chocolate, all placed in a one-gallon Ziploc bag with a personal note containing an uplifting message.

Upland Community Clean-up

Upper Darby Naylor’s Run Park Cleanup
Join Mayor Ed Brown to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The park entrance is located under the trolley trestle across from 1550 Garrett Road and meet at the tennis courts at 10:30. Supplies will be provided.

Chester Children’s Choir
More than 100 Chester children will honor Dr. King’s life and legacy through song. This performance will feature the debut of “If You Knew,” an original song written by CCC Executive and Artistic Director John Alston. Donations received at this performance will benefit the Chester Community Coalition, a nonprofit organization that serves families in Delaware County affected by gun violence. Admission is free. Guests are invited to stay for a reception after the performance. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Watch the premiere of the “If You Knew” music video by the Chester Chester Children’s Chorus. CCC Executive and Artistic Director, John Alston, wrote the song about the inherent potential that lives in all children. “I dream about the day when all children, including our beautiful Chester children, will have the opportunity to fulfill their potential, to have all the experiences they need to become the wisest, happiest, and healthiest versions of themselves,” said Alston.” The video is made possible by the Pincus Family Foundation.

Media Fellowship House
Every year, Media Fellowship House invites the community to our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Commemoration to honor this American hero. For more than thirty years, we have partnered with various community groups to produce one of our area’s largest events. With partners including the Media Area NAACP and Media area houses of worship, Media Fellowship House strives to ensure that Dr. King’s work is never forgotten and his message lives on. Gregory Volz, JD, the Director of Youth Courts & Instructor for Law & Justice at Harcum College will deliver the keynote address. Guests are invited to a Community Dinner following the event, co-hosted by First Church Media and catered by Cedar Creek Catering with the support of community volunteers.
