Louis Teti Bio

Louis N. Teti is a past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and a past Chair of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dickinson College in 1972 (B.A., Political Science) and Temple University School of Law (J.D., 1976; LL.M., Taxation, 1981). He has earned his designation as a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) from The American College of Financial Services. His practice is concentrated in the areas of wills, trusts, business and tax planning, philanthropic planning, contracts, corporate and real estate law. He has been a frequent lecturer in the areas of estate planning, tax planning and estate administration, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy. He is Senior Counsel at Stevens & Lee.

He serves on the board of trustees of Bishop Shanahan High School (2002 – 2023; 2024 – ____), where he chairs the Planned Giving Committee, and the board of trustees of Malvern Preparatory School, where he chaired the Academic Mission Committee, the Bylaws Committee, and the Development and Planned Giving Committee. He is the 2024 recipient of The Shanahan Medal. He is the past Chair of the Boards of the Paoli Hospital Foundation and the Chester County Community Foundation, has served on Paoli Hospital’s Board since 1997, and currently serves as Chair of the Paoli Hospital Planned Giving Committee, and the Main Line Health Planned Giving Committee. He is a past member of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Committee to Study Racial and Gender Bias in the Courts. He served for six years on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He has served on the board of directors of the Laymen’s Retreat League (Malvern), is a past president of the Chester County Estate Planning Council, and a past chair of the Annual Campaign at Paoli Hospital.

Mr. Teti is also a past president of the Chester County Bar Association, and served on its board of directors from 1977 to 1992. He is a past chairman of the PBA Young Lawyers’ Division, and was the first chairman of the CCBA Young Lawyers’ Division. He served a three-year term on the PBA Board of Governors as the governor representing the attorneys in Zone 9 (Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties). He also served a three-year term on the PBA Board from 1982 to 1985, a four-year term from 1997 to 2001, and served ten years in the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association. He is a past member of the PBA Judicial Evaluation Commission, and he served six years on the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 2000 to 2006. He has been consecutively named a “Super Lawyer” by Philadelphia Magazine since 2003, and more recently in 2021, he was named a VISTA Leadership Megastar.

Mr. Teti is a past president of the Chester County Bar Foundation, a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, and he served for six years on the Board of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. He was the recipient of two PBA Special Achievement Awards for his work as chairman of the PBA Long Range Planning Committee, and he received the Chester County Community Foundation Door Opener Award in 2014, and that Foundation’s “Super Door Opener” in 2018. Mr. Teti is a past president of the Central Chester County (Exton) Chamber of Commerce, the founding President of the Rotary Club of Central Chester County (1988) and a past president of the Rotary Club of Exton-Frazer (1982). He has also served on the Board of Governors of Whitford Country Club, as a parent adviser to Boy Scout Troop 105 in Exton, and as President of the Saints Philip and James Home and School Association. He is a member of his church’s contemporary Christian choir, “Jericho” and also serves on the Church’s Finance Committee. He and his wife, Joann, reside in Downingtown. They have twin sons, Jeffrey and Ryan.
