Talking to Your Clients About Giving

Research shows that people like to be asked about their charitable giving. We offer tips for having those conversations, along with the knowledge and experience to craft a customized strategy for your clients. Your clients will value the Foundation’s philanthropic know-how and deep knowledge of our community. Our network of resources and expertise, combined with your own, will help you build strong relationships with your clients.

Below are some questions that may be helpful in identifying clients who might consider making a gift to and establishing a fund with the Foundation:

  • Do I have clients who care deeply about and have been engaged in their local community?
  • Do they give to more than one charitable cause?
  • Are they interested in creating a personal or family legacy in their community?
  • Are they considering the creation of a private foundation but concerned about costs, privacy, and administrative complexity affecting their philanthropy?
  • Would they like to stay personally involved in the use of funds that they deploy for charitable purposes?
  • Do they want to receive a maximum tax benefit for their charitable contributions under federal law?
  • Do they prioritize sound financial management of their contributions?
  • Are they concerned about the future of the nonprofits they are currently supporting — wanting to ensure that gifts remain relevant even if these organizations cease to exist or change their missions?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then partnering with the Foundation will provide you with the tools to help make charitable planning easy for you and your clients.
