The Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Robert “Rob” Payne Memorial Scholarship Fund, honoring the life and legacy of a Delaware County native who touched countless lives.
An educator, thinker, dreamer, and athlete, Rob was a 2003 graduate of Strath Haven High School, a soon-to-be dad, and a beloved English teacher at Chester High School. Rob’s life was tragically cut short on July 4, 2016. His impact on those around him continues to resonate, inspiring the creation of this scholarship to support and nurture future generations.
Carrying Forward a Legacy At Strath Haven High School, Rob distinguished himself as an exceptional student-athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track. His name is proudly displayed on the prestigious 1,000-point club banner in the school gymnasium. Rob’s passion for education led him to become a beloved teacher at Chester High School, where he inspired students with his love of books and knowledge.
The Robert “Rob” Payne Memorial Scholarship Fund aims to carry forward Rob’s legacy of education, athleticism, and community service. Awards from this fund will benefit students from both Strath Haven High School and Chester Charter Scholars Academy, embodying Rob’s commitment to fostering growth and opportunity across our community.
Rob’s own words encapsulate the spirit of this scholarship:
“To acknowledge oneself is the most important asset to a person’s arsenal…who you are and where you’re from is imperative to self development. If I desire to learn who I really am, all I have to do is read.”
Through this scholarship, Rob’s influence as an educator, thinker, dreamer, and athlete will continue to inspire and support young people in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. The Foundation is honored to play a part in preserving and extending Rob Payne’s legacy.
