Empower the Advocate

Legal Training for Children’s Service Professionals

Unmet legal needs are among the key stressors for low-income families, but free legal assistance is often difficult to access. The Health, Education and Legal Assistance Project: A Medical-Legal Partnership works collaboratively with health care partners to identify and address unmet legal needs for expecting mothers and those with young children, and to reduce stress and improve outcomes for both. This day of training was directed to front-line service providers. Sessions and presenters included:

  • Special Education Right, Dennis McAndrews, Esq.
  • Federal and State Health Policy, Patrick Keenan, Pennsylvania Health Access Network
  • Immigration Law, Philippe Weisz, Esq., HIAS
  • Housing Rights, Jordan Casey, Esq., HELP-MLP
