A Message from the Foundation’s Second President, Michael Kellerman

Dear Supporter,

It is an honor and a privilege to introduce myself as the second president of The Foundation for Delaware County.

For nearly ten years, the Foundation has worked hand in hand with our community to support the vital work of nonprofits, funders, and partners addressing pressing issues across the county. Today, as an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our communities, we are uniquely positioned to work with key stakeholders to create lasting, positive change and address our greatest challenges. We will share more about our impact in our soon-to-be-released annual report.

I have seen the power of community philanthropy throughout my career. Most recently, as Interim Executive Director of the Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia, I have worked with foundations and philanthropic organizations across the region to drive change, spark innovation, and strengthen communities. In this time, I was fortunate to experience the Foundation’s mission in action firsthand.

With more than 25 years of experience advancing mission-driven organizations—including more than a decade in the Philadelphia region, which started with leading a longstanding child welfare nonprofit in Delaware County—I bring with me a deep commitment to building relationships, solving complex problems, and fostering collaboration across sectors. Among the most inspiring experiences I have been part of are those where communities come together in the face of urgent challenges to discover new solutions that were previously unforeseen.

Now, as I step into this role, I am more committed than ever to leveraging our collective strengths to create meaningful change right here in Delaware County, where my family is proud to call home.

I am humbled to succeed Frances Sheehan, whose leadership over the past nine years laid the foundation for our success. In this initial period, I’ll be working closely with Frances and the fabulous members of the Foundation team to learn more about our work and partners. I am deeply grateful for her leadership and wish her the very best in her well-deserved retirement.

My first few months will be focused on listening and learning—from our board of directors, staff, partners, donors, and community. I  look forward to meeting you and other stakeholders at events and gatherings. I encourage you to stay connected with your usual point of contact at the Foundation. We are fortunate to have an outstanding team eager to support you.

It is a privilege to lead The Foundation for Delaware County, and I know I speak for our dedicated team, Board, and partners when I share my firm belief that together, we can shape a future where every individual and family in Delco has the opportunity to thrive.

Michael Kellerman

President, The Foundation for Delaware County
